The mission of Mineral Thrift is three fold.
1.) Faith – Witness Jesus Christ by offering household goods and clothing at affordable prices to the local community. At our core, we want to reach out into the community in a meaningful and impactful way. Mineral Thrift provides a unique opportunity to spread the message of Jesus Christ to people who may shy away from traditional churches. As relationships are formed, dialogues open up and change occurs.
2.) Community – We aim to coordinate with other non-profits and ministries in Louisa County, VA. While we are open to all, our goal is to help low-income residents of the county have affordable access to clothing and household items. For this reason, our prices are lower than the big name thrift stores. The budget of Mineral Thrift is around $10,000 annually, most of which goes to expenses, such as rent, electricity, taxes, etc. Part of the proceeds of Mineral Thrift support Calvary Chapel of Louisa, a non-denominational church in Mineral, VA.
3.) Environment – Mineral Thrift aims to reduce the amount of waste produced by upcycling items that would otherwise end up in the landfill. We specialize in reuse and recycling, which quite literally turns trash into resources. This reduces the amount of materials needed to produce new goods. Of course, the biggest impact on the environment occurs when you, the reader, reduce your purchases of new impulse products.
